2026 Staff Promotions – Tiffany Koch, Sam Stinson, & Trevor Schoulte

Design Engineers is thrilled to see the advancement of three of our talented and experienced staff to new roles. Tiffany, Sam, and Trevor have been with Design Engineers since graduation or interning with us as students, and their growth reflects the collective depth of expertise that has been built up within the firm. “Announcing our 2026 promotions in a recent staff meeting was an exciting moment for all of us,” says Managing Principal Dwight Schumm. “These promotions not only represent individual merit and ambition, but a commitment to the collective growth and capability of Design Engineers to provide outstanding services to our clients.”

Tiffany Koch, PE – Senior Electrical Engineer

Tiffany Koch is a licensed Professional Engineer and has been with Design Engineers’ Cedar Rapids office since interning in 2018. From the start, Tiffany has taken on complex projects with impact and roles with increasing responsibility, demonstrating her strong problem-solving skills and a thoughtful approach to electrical design. She has also become an important mentor, regularly sharing her experience and helping junior engineers grow in their roles. In her new role, Tiffany will continue to provide technical leadership while expanding her mentorship of younger staff and contributing to the continued growth of the electrical team.

Sam Stinson – Mechanical Project Engineer

Sam Stinson has been with Design Engineers’ Cedar Rapids office after graduating 2022 and has steadily developed his technical expertise while taking on greater responsibility in coordinating projects and supporting client relationships. This new position will increase Sam’s exposure to project management and team coordination, building leadership skills while guiding projects from concept through completion. Sam is an active member and Student Activities Lead Chair in ASHRAE, a member of Engineers in Action, and mentor of Iowa State University’s Engineers Without Borders, which includes the firm’s ongoing decarbonization and air quality projects in Ullo, Ghana.

Trevor Schoulte – Electrical Consultant

Trevor joined Design Engineers in 2022 after interning in the Cedar Rapids office in 2021. With a background in electrical engineering technology, Trevor brought a practical understanding of building systems and design tools to the BIM team from the start. Recently, Trevor has played a positive role on healthcare projects and continues to build experience across all phases of design and construction. In his new role, Trevor will take on increased project involvement, particularly during construction, while continuing to support teams with technical insight.
