Design Engineers Welcomes Scott Watkinson to Technology Team

Design Engineers is pleased to welcome Scott Watkinson as our newest technology consultant, bringing with him over two decades of industry experience and a deep technical background in security systems, structured cabling, and integrated technologies.

Scott has spent the last 24 years in the technology field, starting as an installer and technician, advancing to foreman, and eventually project manager. His experience includes an Owner mindset when he served as an Information Systems Specialist for the Iowa City Community School District. His expertise spans access control, intrusion detection, and security camera systems, layered atop a strong foundation in structured cabling and infrastructure design.

“Scott brings a perfect blend of hands-on experience and professionalism across both fieldwork and client engagement,” said Principal Jonathan Gettler. “His perspective adds the depth and real-world insight we aim to deliver for our clients. We’re excited to have him on the team!”

Scott shared that joining Design Engineers marks a fulfilling step in his professional journey. “I’ve always envisioned design as the summit of my career path. I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned over the years to help transform the built environment.”
