DE Wins ASHRAE Region 6 Awards

DESIGN ENGINEERS was on-hand at the 2019 Conference for ASHRAE Region 6 (IA, MN, WI, IL & MO)in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
DE picked up awards for two technologically significant projects and an Honorable Mention for a project pretty near and dear to our office.
FIRST PLACE WINNERS
- KIRKWOOD CENTER – Community College Culinary Center and Boutique Hotel. Engineer Kelly Harrer was awarded First Place for New Commercial Buildings. The project’s cited technologies were: Geothermal Heating & Cooling, Thermal Ice Storage, and Demand-Controlled Ventilation
- ICCSD LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL – New Public High School. Engineer Dwight Schumm was awarded First Place for New Educational Facilities, citing Central & Terminal Heat Pumps, Geothermal Heating & Cooling, and a 47% Energy Savings above baseline.
HONORABLE MENTION
- DESIGN ENGINEERS OFFICES – Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dwight Schumm, Tim Lentz, and Joe Chappell were recognized for the ongoing design and development of our headquarters, the first commercial Zero Energy building in the state of Iowa.
