University of Dubuque – South Campus Housing

This project consists of construction of six new apartment buildings and is being constructed in two phases.  The first phase (completed in 2003) included three buildings of three stories each.  The second phase (completed in 2004) includes three buildings of four stories each.  All told, the project consists of 77,000 sq-ft and provides 17 four bedroom apartments and 23 five bedroom apartments.  In addition, each group of three buildings includes one community room.

The scope of mechanical work includes the installation of new geothermal heat pumps for each apartment connected to a 25,000 ft ground heat exchanger located below the adjacent parking lots.  The project also includes new plumbing and fire suppression systems.

The electrical scope of work includes the installation of lighting and power systems as well as a fire alarm system.  Telecommunications systems for the project include a structured cabling plant for telephone, data and cable TV with connection to the campus fiber optic distribution system.  In addition, raceway was provided for the future installation of fiber optic lines to each apartment.
