What we’re looking for.
As a Technology Systems Designer at Design Engineers, you’ll work with a team of engineers and technical staff to investigate and design building technology systems for public and private clients, primarily in the healthcare, municipal, higher ed, K12, and government market sectors. From structured cabling, access control, and video surveillance, to intercom, nurse call, audio/video, sound masking, DAS, and more, you’ll be involved in the design of a whole array of systems. Energized by interpreting complex technical documents for your team, you have an eye for details and are naturally analytical. You enjoy collaborating with all parties in a project to better understand their needs and inform your technology solutions.
What you’ll do.
- Collaborate with Industry Certified RCDD and CTS Technology staff
- Perform site work at existing buildings
- Produce technology system designs and layouts
- Prepare drawings for competitive bidding by Contractors
- Perform site visits to review the progress of construction
- Interact with Architects, Engineers, Contractors and Owners
What you need to succeed.
- A two-year technology degree or B.S. in engineering is desired
- 2 or more years of experience actively designing telecommunication and security systems
- Possess knowledge of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards and Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) best practices
- Construction industry experience is helpful but not required
- Competent in reading, studying, and interpreting technical documents, schematics, specifications, and technical procedures
- Aptitude with computer applications and software, specifically Bluebeam, and Revit
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Energetic and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
