Kirkwood Hotel & Conf. Center

Culinary Arts School, Full Service Boutique Hotel, Gourmet Restaurant, & Conference Center

Kirkwood Hotel Teaching KitchenOne of our most unique, complex, and rewarding projects, The Hotel at Kirkwood Center utilized massive heat exchanger fields and 9-ton midnight ice-makers to offset cooling needs, laser powered particulate matter sensing range hoods, and room-by-room occupancy and light sensors, to name a few of the more interesting technologies at work behind the scenes.

The project was constructed in two phases, consisting of a 40,000 square foot conference and business events center, and a 107,000 square foot culinary arts teaching center and 71 room hotel.

The scope of mechanical work included the installation of two ground heat exchanger fields for a total of 276 wells each 295 feet deep, four air-handling units, chiller plant with waste heat being utilized for reheat, thermal ice storage system, energy recovery units, water to air heat pumps, radiant floor heating, variable speed low flow kitchen hoods, and high efficiency boilers. The hotel rooms are conditioned with vertical stack water to air heat pumps that are directly controlled from the hotel management and door security systems.

A full fire sprinkler system was provided with elevator shaft pressurization, fire pump, and ansul systems for kitchen hoods.

The electrical scope of work included the installation of all lighting and power systems, generator for critical functions, electrical connections in support of both the mechanical equipment and the food service equipment and addressable fire alarm.  Communications and audio/visual systems for the project were also provided.
